So it came about whenever the spirit from God came to Saul, David would take the harp and play it with his hand; and Saul would be refreshed and be well, and the evil spirit would depart from him.1 Samuel 16:23

Welcome to my creative exploration of Judaism through contemplative song.

I offer contemplative song minyanim and musical rituals of original melodies that play with Jewish practice from the special place Judaism holds for the human voice. Contemplative song and chant meditation allow you to be the David to your own inner Saul — a relaxing way to rest and focus the mind, control the breath, and can be beneficial for anxiety, depression and general wellbeing. Through music we can connect to ourself, the other, and All Creation. Having more time to savor the beautiful images in our liturgy and sacred texts offers opportunities to uncover new, emotional, and personal connections to them.

I am a regular Jew, sharing what I learn along the way. I lean towards the creative and mystical rather than the academic.

You can expect a mixture of songs, chants and nigun (wordless melody); some to sing along with, some call-and-response, and some for mindful listening.

Sing along… harmonize… add percussion… play along… move… breathe… enjoy… relax… heal… peace.

Texts are presented in Hebrew, Latin transliteration, and English translation. But if the words hinder your connection, lai lai lai is truly a perfectly acceptable substitute.
